ELL Assessment

What should ELL Assessment look like at your school?

As of 2006, Kentucky adopted WIDA to provide assessment and teacher resources for English Language Learners. Kentucky is required to follow these steps to identify students with limited English proficiency using one of the WIDA screeners. Based on scores received from the screener, parents and teachers create a program service plan (PSP) to follow. Between 1/2/19-2/8/19 each year, all identified ELL students must complete the ACCESS test, which examines reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in English. Based on screener and ACCESS scores, teachers should refer to Can-Do Descriptors to modify and scaffold learning objectives.
